On April 16, 2013 MTS company announced launching LTE network in Syktyvkar.
Komi was the third region in the North-Western Federal District where the new generation network had been brought into commercial exploitation. Five days earlier, on April 11 it had appeared in Saint Petersburg and the Leningrad Region. The residents of Pskov Oblast could try the new network in the autumn of the last year.
By the end of year 2014 MTS plans to deploy the fourth generation networks in 600 cities of Russia.
The media conference took place in the conference hall of “Syktyvkar” hotel.
20 journalists had been invited to the conference.

- Vyacheslav Verbovitch, the technical director of MTS “Komi” office spoke at the conference.
The first LTE network provided by MTS in the Northwestern Federal District was launched in November, 2013 in Pskov Oblast. On April 16 MTS subscribers in Komi Republic obtained access to the Internet of the fourth generation.
By the end of year 2014 4G networks by MTS in the North-Western Federal District would start working in Arkhangelsk, Murmansk, Vologda and Novgorod oblasts. 4G network by MTS in the North-Western Federal District is built under the three-year agreement concluded between MTS and Samsung Electronics in 2013.
Within the media conference a coach tour was organized that allowed the journalists to test the new generation connection in different districts of the city.
